Hello my lovelies,
Yet another post from today's Australia Day celebrations. A few of us went to Jane's for a BBQ as customary Aussie's so we could eat too much and be lazy all day. Everything was so relaxed and we spent a lot of time laying down on some rugs outside, surrounded by mountains of pillows. It was a little too windy for our liking, but there were blankets and sweaters and we all had fun tumbling over each other and taking endless photos. We're also very proud of our polaroid (featured at the very bottom), it's basically one of those picture-perfect shots you could use in an ad. These are the girls who took me in when there was nobody left, when I had to realise that the people I had once surrounded myself with meant absolutely nothing. These are the girls who didn't think twice about 'adopting' me and it's days like these when I'm remembered how lucky I am not only to be living in such a beautiful country, but to be surrounded by so many amazing people. There are some group shots, I'm missing a few people - some came late and I had to leave quite quickly.
Recently I've come to really enjoy life. Surrounding myself with such exquisite people who understand and love me is a priceless way to spend time. Although I can't drink when I'm driving - had to miss out on some Scottish cocktails today served out of cute mason jars - I'm loving the long drives home listening to $2 op shop CD's. There's something therapeutic about a long road and good music, it's hard to argue with.
Today's ensemble was comfortable and simple. I went for navy blue pants with an elastic waist and elastic ankles. It's such a spacious piece of clothing that doesn't restrict your movement, so you can lounge around and sit like a guy and no one will think twice. I paired it with a white crop top so it was a little bit fancier and a gold necklace my brother bought me. I think they look like rib cages to be honest, but they could be warped wings or something. Either way, the little bit of gold had a bit of sparkle to the whole outfit. I didn't want to overdo it though, so I kept everything very basic without any bold colours or prints. I wore simple black flats for the shoes, but we were going for a hippie vibe so I went without for the photos.
I've officially enrolled myself into university and the orientation camp so I'll look forward to telling you all about my adventures and possible new friends (the nerves are setting in...)
Until next time,
Amy.
